Getting started

How do I get an API key?

Sign in with Google and your free key is made straight away on your account page. It is shown once, so copy it then; we keep only a fingerprint of it. No card is needed.

Quick start: https://tvguideapi.com/documentation/quick-start

How do I send my key with a call?

In the Authorization header, as a bearer token: Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY. Every endpoint is on api.tvguideapi.com; the quick start has a first call ready to copy.

Authentication: https://tvguideapi.com/documentation/authentication

What does the free key read?

Yesterday and today, on listings, now and next, and channels, in every country. 50 calls a day, reset at 00:00 UTC. Shows, films and events come back empty until you upgrade.

Is there a sandbox or test data?

No. Every key, free ones included, reads the real guide.

Keys and limits

What happens when I reach my limit?

Calls past your daily or monthly allowance get 429 quota_exceeded with the time it resets. Going over the per-minute rate gets 429 rate_limited with a Retry-After header. Nothing is ever billed for going over.

Rate limits: https://tvguideapi.com/documentation/rate-limits

I have lost my key. Can you send it again?

We cannot: only its fingerprint is kept. Rotate it on your account page instead. You get a new key at once and the old one keeps working for 24 hours, so you can deploy the new one first.

How many keys can I have?

One on the Free key and Live, two on Archive, five on Complete.

Data and times

What time zone are the times in?

Every time is UTC, written as ISO 8601 with a Z, such as 2026-10-12T19:00:00Z. Convert to your viewer's zone on your side.

Times and days: https://tvguideapi.com/documentation/times-and-days

How far back does the history go?

On Archive and Complete, listings go back to 2010 and episodes back to 1908. The Free key and Live read from yesterday.

A channel shows no programmes. Why?

Some providers list channels they publish no schedule for. Open a ticket with the channel's name and country and we will look for another source.

Channels by country: https://tvguideapi.com/channels

A programme is at the wrong time. What do you do about it?

We compare every source carrying a channel, every day. A schedule out of line with the others is corrected or left out, and summer-time changes are handled per zone. If you still see one, open a ticket with the channel and the time.

Plans and billing

Can I change plan later?

Any time from your account. An upgrade opens at once on the same key; a move down applies at the end of the period you have paid for. Yearly billing costs ten months.

Plan and billing: https://tvguideapi.com/account/billing

How do I cancel?

Account, Plan and billing, then Card, invoices, cancel. Access runs to the end of the period you have paid for; the unused part is not refunded.

What will appear on my card statement?

DEVELOPERDATA.NET. For any question about a charge, see developerdata.net/support: https://developerdata.net/support?tab=charge.

Refunds: https://tvguideapi.com/refunds

How do I ask for a refund?

Through the refund form: https://tvguideapi.com/support/new/refund, a ticket with Billing chosen. Refunds are for our own mistakes, as the refunds page sets out.

MCP and agents

How do I connect Claude or another assistant?

Add the MCP server https://tvguideapi.com/mcp to any MCP client that can send a header, with your key as the bearer token. Ask it what is on, and it answers from the guide.

Claude and agents: https://tvguideapi.com/documentation/claude-and-agents

Is there a guide for AI agents?

Yes: /skill.md: https://tvguideapi.com/skill.md teaches an agent every endpoint, and /llms.txt: https://tvguideapi.com/llms.txt lists the documentation.

Agent skills: https://tvguideapi.com/documentation/agent-skills-index

Account

Can I show the data in my own app?

Yes, in your own apps, sites and screens. Reselling or republishing the data itself, as a feed or API of your own, is not allowed.
